comic progress
Ok here’s my comic progress. My thoughts aren’t all that organized lol.
I’m at the inking stage. Drawing clean lines is hard for me and I think I’m just going to default to my regular line style HAHA. Also trying not to get too caught up on the details like drawing a face, etc (though Caelan is hard to draw).

I think I have about 7 pages inked. I added a little bit of toning, but the more important part (for me) is toning Nyv as I draw and also Caelan & Nyv’s hair.
Something that is emerging that is fun for me is that Caelan's personality/thoughts are more animated than how I draw him. It's fun when things like that emerge in the writing process. I also think I'm establishing the canon a little different from what I have in my outlines (I like it).
I’m at 21 pg of story, so it might be like +3 or +7 pages where I have free talk (2 pages) and extra illust sketches (Day doesn’t appear in the comic and he’s my secret fav!!!)
For some artist thoughts… I’m the kind of artist that improves by drawing plentiful and often. So I think with comic works my goal is to getting the story done as best I can and then take those lessons to bring in the next work??
I spent some fun time reading/analyzing how manga panelling/pacing flows. I like how panels are given more breathing room by adding transition/tonal backgrounds.
As a side note: I was reminded of dirchansky’s Time and comics post that shows how long it takes them to sketch/ink comics.
For technical thoughts… I think I don’t have that much technical comic skill (yet). BUT I WILL KEEP GOING!! I think putting out a badly drawn comic is better than putting out NO comic. Not sure if this is delusional thinking LOL, but I know when I look at my old zines I have that feeling of “whoaa my art has improved so much since then” + feeling proud that I MADE the thing.
Idk where to put this thought but I’m also using a lot of CSP assets to help me with the background graphics/details - TG for time savers like that!!
