cross stitch 3.9
Laughing that my posts have tl;dr up top but w/e it's my blog!!
Last week was unexpectedly busy with car issues (all fixed - also my parents helped support to offset the costs - super grateful for that. I'm in my 30s and fully prepared for these kinds of emergency savings type of things, but having the extra help feels so supportive as someone who lives a solo life).
I also did my battery and case housing repair last Friday - my phone feels noticeably faster (before it was getting really slow and delayed). But apparently screen replacements from a 3rd party causes face id to not work (which I can live with).
Also got pizza with my sis & friends.

I bought tickets to the ATLUS Metaphor ReFantazio concert (SUCH A GOOD ALBUM) - I was bummed that I missed the Persona concert earlier this year but I actually liked Metaphor so much more so I am stoked!! And they have a Dallas show which is amazing because we do a day-trip type of thing for that.
I also got some cute dishcloths, small bowls, and forgot I bought this pc holder (along with a zine) from the Citrus Con artist alley. I bought from 2 artists, and mainly ones that had zine/comic projects. The event looked really fun but I didn't have time to stick around on discord haha.

OK THE REAL UPDATE

From my previous post I added a picture of finishing part 4 of 9.
Logged hours:
- 261 TOTAL LOGGED
- 181 hours (section 1-3)
- 54 hours (section 4 - Jan 27 - March 5?)
- 26 hours (section 5 - March 6 - ?) - I spent most of my weekend cross stitching.
*note hours aren’t completely accurate since I do take breaks and also am sometimes playing something in the bg inbetween.
I finished the detail area and am working on filling in the larger areas. I’m trying to do the larger swatches in big chunks instead of 10x10 areas since I heard it is the more “proper” way to do it. I think there is something about how the tension is better. TBH I think I learn more things in every section that I do (like which areas to start first, etc).
One part I’m dreading in this section is that I have a large swatch of White/Ivory thread that I am saving as the last part of the stitching. Lol it's so hard to see.
Also - I'm excited to see the overall cross stitch reveal. I might just end up framing the piece.

^ started the confetti areas which I have found to work best as far as making the thread organized... Saturday progress

^ Sunday progress (lol you can tell b/c snack is on a different plate!!) Momo zooming by in the background is so funny.
I'm extremely diligent with making sure my needle is always on the magnet (my diy needle minder which is 2 magnets sandwiching the aida fabric) because CATS!! Also I make sure the strings are packed away and not out in the open.
Poppy has a bad habit of stepping ON the cloth and ruin the tension of the fabric LMAO. So I try to rest this standing upright or packed away in a box.

^ Took this pic in the morning. I have 3 thread colors used in the remaining sky swatch: A mid periwinkle (currently stitching with that one), light periwinkle, and ivory/white (already used in the bottom of this section - that one white row). I'll assume that this one will also top out at around 50-ish hours.
