Flatstock 2026
My coworker (our screenprint production head) texted us about Flatstock’s (free to attend) dates for SXSW - my weekend schedule was pretty full but I managed to fit in a visit! Also was able to pay mostly in cash which is always “in budget”.

I usually avoid going downtown during SXSW (also a side note - I realized I don’t like outdoor concerts/festivals all that much either). I told myself that I would only visit Flatstock if I woke up early enough to grab a nice parking spot downtown. Since I got there early I was able to snag street parking over in west downtown (about a mile walk to the exhibition). I got coffee from a new place (one of my sis’s regular spots since her office was in the area) and got some journaling done (I’m behind!!). The weather was cool and it was really nice to spend that morning time.

I then headed over to Flatstock at around 10am (when it opened). Everyone had amazing stuff - I was mostly looking for smaller prints that were either riso or screenprint (and any other smaller bonus add I could put in my purchase to round out my number).
I haven’t had time to unpack but here is a selection of what I got:
List:
- Nate Duval - TX Milk Glass Mug + stickers (usually wouldn’t want to go with manufactured items but I liked this mug)
- Old Growth Creative - 8.5x11 Print + all over bandana print (hand pulled by him). IMO it is a difficult print to do due to printing over the seams - you would probably only do this if you did all the printing yourself.
- Michaela Made - Riso Prints + sticker sheet
- Field Sparrow Studio - 8.5x11 Print + Postcard set made out of test prints (I immediately wanted to send a postcard to myself but forgot about it)
- Gabeaux - 8.5 x 11 Flower Print

Not too bad! When I finished it was much busier in the downtown area and I needed to eat. I got lunch at whole foods (near my car) and got some more reading done.

I had my ipad with me since I was doing a doodle date meet up after (and then going to get dinner with my family since my parents were in town). Overall a busy Saturday. Sunday was much of the same where I met up for brunch and then had to play dnd after. So busy… I'm a bit tired that I didn't have enough me/downtime this past weekend.

Here’s a pic of cross stitch. The thread is more ivory than white. I probably have stitched 9 rows since that pic.
