gdi bsky rolled out age verification in tx
Don’t worry, I’m not desperate enough to use any social media that requires me to give my ID.
The other week (6/30), Bsky had accidentally “temporarily” rolled out age verification for TX based users - that roll out was a “mistake” but that red flag already in my head. It looks like the actual roll out was implemented yesterday.
I did see from other users that bsky isn’t even interpreting the tx law correctly, etc etc. I’m also aware of workarounds like vpn and using a different client (and also just general I don't need social media yada yada yada). But still!!
I’m still on a lot of social media because I like networking with fellow artists/creators and like seeking out new fandom friends, so it’s not easy for me to just leave a platform. I also have customers that follow my socials as well.
Though this is a great reminder that I am thankful I have my personal website that I can always point to.
(In worse news, I’ve gone back to posting on a bit twt/X where a good number of my friends are still posting, since they had never made the move off the platform).
