sewing projects - cropping tees

I’m in middle of chores/cleaning since I’ll be out of town for FFXIV’s Fan Fest in Anaheim. I also made stickers of our characters and will recap that later...

Of course, I wanted to make a last minute DIY (cropping a button down I had thrifted at the same time I made my tamagotchi shirt) - a varsity inspired crop with my WoL’s (Warrior of Light) name: Fennel.

I made a digital mockup of my idea (for scale only).

I went to our creative reuse center to pick up some fabric swatches (each about $1 or $2) - I hadn’t decided on the colors yet but was thinking of mixing and matching a couple of red/brown patterns.

I got back to work with cropping the button down (after deciding placement). I also discovered there is a tear on the fabric by the shoulder so I’ll need to patch that. DSC01479 DSC01481 DSC01482

Printed out my text to check scale.

I also thought about adding a pink border but it wasn’t working how I liked so then I just cut them down.

I left off at the hand sewing process (I have until Wednesday to finish this since I fly out Thursday).

Since my sewing machine was set up I also took the time to finally crop a handful of tees I have been wanting to crop this morning.

They are all modest crops - I tend to pick boxier unisex tees which usually leaves an excess of fabric at the bottom (some of my more oversized shirts will stay uncropped).

Most of the shirts are my friend's designs as well - I've been holding off on wearing some of them because I was waiting to crop them, so I'm glad I've finally finished that to-do project haha.
