webdev learning hobby
I bought a webdev course a few years ago in 2022 (on a promotion when it was $20) since I’ve always wanted to formally learn web development from the basics.
Of course then I just let the course linger in my account… I finally started it earlier this week and it has taken over my free time as this week’s hobby, lol.
It’s a lot like being formally trained in art/drawing concepts (like the underlying logic of perspective drawing, etc.) after being self-taught for years and years (bad habits and all).
Anyways I’m in the CSS styling portion now (exciting!). I’ve been able to tinker around with CSS before, but I’m now getting the better understanding of hierarchy and reasoning on why you would structure the code in a certain way.
I also wanted to start using some of the things I learned on an actual website.
I used the box model to try to make these photos of Momo and Poppy polaroid-esque and add a caption with a fun font (from Bunny fonts).

Also tried this project that is just locally on my computer: a grid sticky note with angles. (Maybe I could do a kraft paper version too!! So cute.)

I'm excited to see what more I can learn and add to my sites. I might eventually use all this knowledge to finally return to my neocities site WIP.
