errand + park bento lunch

Folkmoss let me know that my snicker comments plugin was glitching out with the captcha image overlapping the input text box, LOL idk how to fix it so I just turned off captcha. But I (should) have comment moderation on.

fLaMEd posted a great post about getting a battery replacement from a local repair shop for their iPhone 13 Pro. My iPhone 11 Pro Max is at 72% battery health + has a shattered back + kind of slow, so it’s about time haha. I’ve been occasionally reading about other iphone models considering an upgrade but haven’t pulled the trigger. (For better or worse I’m kind of deep in the apple ecosystem.)

After reading some reviews I found a local place and got a quote! The salesperson was very easy to talk to, transparent about what work would need to be done (the 11Pro Max would need a full housing replacement), and communicated timelines pretty clearly. So I’m going to move forward with it! The parts do have to be ordered (expected as I have an older phone) so I think the repair will happen sometime next week - hopefully I can get few more years out of it. I'll update later if I remember but if I don't then it probably means that everything went well.

It’s getting warm and spring in Austin so I went to a park to eat lunch.

I picked up my favorite bento box from a locally owned Japanese grocery store in town. Saba shio!!! You can actually text in your order/reserve your order, but I usually like to go in and see what my luck is that day. Some days I get my favorite and sometimes all the bento are sold out and I have to just get onigiri, lol.

There was a coffee truck there so I got a cortado as well (I sometimes forget Austin is a very food truck city, there are SO many.) Lunch was lovely until the end when I noticed a yellowjacket wasp flying around and land on my coffee cup briefly (? definitely a wasp and not a cutie bee). I kept calm and wrapped things up very quickly ha ha ha. Plus my metered parking was about to end (I forgot there were nearby free parking options that I will use next time).

After that I stopped by REI since it was nearby and picked up something that had been on my list for several months now. A pocket blanket (this one is the Matador Pocket Blanket Mini). I considered getting their regular pocket blanket but after seeing them in person I liked the size of the mini. I do have a nicer picnic blanket that lives in my trunk but wanted this portable one that I can carry around with my keys for more simple outings. I like that it has guidelines to fold back into the pouch.

Hopefully during the summer months I can incorporate more after-work park visits!
