I keep trying to make a yaoi/fujoshi/BL post, lol.
I feel like a good portion of my identity is fujoshi/BL/fannish things but somehow my blog has featured the more normie themes in my life… How am I ever going to join a Fujo blogring/weblisting when I don’t feature them!! (joke)
This post exists because I just wanted to yap… lol.
Themes (ish) that I am really enjoying lately for reading yaoi:
Extemely comedic funny BL - I was reading What a Catch! which features Kang Shinjoo. I’m already a sucker for side/spinoff characters getting their own series. Kang Shinjoo is also one of of my favorite character types to read… he’s so funny… he’s crazy. It’s so funny that he’s a masochist too… He’s also a delusional rich character which I love. I think in the original series it was so funny when he said he would want to get the main pair together and then become their third. The author mentions that he gets away with it because he’s extremely *HANDSOME… which is true LOL.
Toxic Crematorium Wife (Husband) trope - I don’t think I have a current read for this but Jinx could be a good contender. I sometimes just love problematic trash.
I constantly love 1 hiding a biiiig secret from the other that will change the dynamic!!
I have been liking the Dungeon break series where the male protag (also the bottom LOL) is hiding their OP power. Save the Hunter is so cute (I like that everyone clearly wanted him to live) and also The Hunter’s Gonna Lay Low.

Heated Rivalry (Ilya x Shane)
I think I may have already mentioned but Ilya x Shane dynamic is one of the long situationship slowburns that I like. I still haven’t progressed reading past Ch 5 but I also already bought The Long Game.
Phainon x Mydei - Honkai Star Rail (in that order)
Mydei is a BUFF man coded to be manly and a great warrior but all I can see is how cute he is that he loves pomegranate milk and reading and how he wanted peace for his people. He is so cute. I love seeing a Warrior type of character bottom. Phainon is very puppy/dog personality but extremely tragic that he had to regress into endless amounts of cycles (to the point that his OG regressed self lost his senses).
I also loved when Mydei invited Phainon to visit his library in his next life. So cute and nerdy!!! Also — in the post story there’s some tidbits of Phainon meeting Mydei’s parents. So cute 🥰
Dr. Ratio x Aventurine - Honkai Star Rail
Kind of an unexpected connection when I saw the main story questline where Ratio appears in Penacony. Previous scenes that featured Ratio had him wearing his statue bust head (I forget the reasons why but I like the fanon? that it’s to hide his attractive face lol). I really like the tension between him an Aventurine, but the moment where he tells Aventurine to stay alive got me.
Aventurine is one of my favorite character archetypes of Beautiful Blond Man (oh also evil gay [affectionate] twink <- Day from Lost Heir is exactly this). I love thinking of Aventurine with a inferiority complex. I find his backstory really compelling too - the Avgins being wiped out and Aventurine (Kakavasha) being the last of his kind. I think there’s a comparison of Avgins being similar to gypsies in the way that they are treated by other races. Aventurine was also enslaved at one point (which I’m sure there’s some kind of lasting horror). He has a mark (brand??) from those times and in the Fate Stay Night collab, mentions how he hates marks.
Dan Heng x Caelus (Main Character) - Honkai Star Rail
Dan Heng is such a cool, collected character that I love the idea of him taking care of his silly little guy. There’s a moment in Amphoreous where they get separated and Dan Heng is hyperfocused on getting the Trailblazer back.
Yoo Joonghyuk x Kim Dokja - Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint
I unexpectedly shipped them. I was just wanting to read an action/fantasy and knew of some people that liked this series. I think I started to ship them when certain story plot had a moment that showed “oh this character can’t imagine life without the other person”. I haven’t read much fanfics/fanworks of them but find how intertwined these characters are super interesting.
Sephiroth x Cloud - FF7
THIS WAS A CRAZY APPEARANCE FOR 2025 ships. I already liked Sterek and Tyler Hoechlin voicing Sephiroth in the remakes really hit me where I like it. Also the thought of Sephiroth being drawn to Cloud almost obsessively and also taunting him is so good…
I found two fics that made it to my bookmarks list.
1. Toxic crazy omegaverse mafiaverse chasing wife crematorium setting. Incredibly fun for me to read. My favorite part was when the Betrayal Happens and Cloud decides to leave Sephiroth and is stubborn about taking him back.
2. Time Travel and First Person POV that I actually like. I usually don’t care for First Person POV because I’m not too interested in feeling like a self insert, but this particular fic had such strong voices for both Sephiroth and Cloud. The premise is that both of these characters time travel back to to an Alternate Timeline, but at different spots. Their paths eventually collide and the question is - will they know that they are each other’s OG version of Sephiroth/Cloud.
Andrew Minyard x Neil Josten & Jeremy Knox x Jean Moreau - AFTG
Super self indulgent story LOL.
Every once in a while I’ll also go through my AO3 bookmarks and rediscover fic that I added to the list. The main criteria of fics that end up on the list is that I think my future self would enjoy rereading them.
OC SHIP TALK
I miss drawing my OCs!! I thought I would go on a drawing rampage in Dec/January but that didn’t happen (which is ok). ANYWAYS. I wrote some OC ship talk which is not necessarily my favorite ship tropes to read? I wonder why!!
Soren x Maris
My sweet neglected boys - they are always happy together and have a very undramaful life. I based them off of the idea of being best friends with your S/O. The fun fact is that Soren is usually the one bottoming (mostly I think because Maris prefers to be a top and Soren doesn’t have a strong preference).
Early iterations of Soren & Maris had them at the same age, but the current canon (where they meet in the workplace) I have Maris about 2 years older. TBH I am still workshopping the overall story/universe of their plot - I think if I had to describe it it’s probably like a combo of X-Files and Criminal Minds (two shows I have never watched except for maybe handfuls of episodes LMAO… someday).
Basil x Shiloh
Dramatic reuniting with your first love!! Their original relationship was between two people who are so different from their current canon self.
I like to think that high school Shiloh was a coward/scared person to “tie” himself to a LOML (due to his upbringing and lack of trust in a lot of people) - so he kind of ghosted/ran away. Which sort of messes Basil up too (since he was more bright eyed and rosy about love at that age AHH). When they reunite in the current timeline Basil has moved onto a current partner, but eventually they get together after rebuilding that foundation.
After that I think Basil is a very loving/supporting partner in the bg. Like he always attends Shiloh’s performances and is super proud when Shiloh gets recognition.
He also likes to support his loved ones in general?
[Lost Heir] Nyv x Caelan
I feel like I usually love slow burn yearning romance which why Nyv x Caelan is so funny to me. They were basically PWP the whole time and very friends with benefits. I’m not sure where the love plays in to the story??? I think maybe the love grew from strong feelings of partnership/compatibility but I guess they might be the type to never say the words out loud or be cheesy about it.
I have a vague plot idea that Nyv eventually gives up his crown to his younger sister (who is much more capable but didn’t think she would become the ruler because only the male heirs would be eligible - haha yay nonsense politics).
I think there’s also a feeling like Nyv would never want to “lose” Caelan. I think Caelan’s main character struggle is letting go of his Matarinian identity as he realizes that he will never live full time in the Matarin kingdom again?

[Lost Heir] Anton x Day
From outsiders perspective these two would be the type of pair where no one knows what is going on exactly between the two of them. I think Day is not really tied to having to stay in Arydan so he will eventually spend some months in Matarin and then the two of them will travel? I also think the two of them have a skewed sense of romantic love (due to their circumstances) so they found common ground together.
Speaking of Anton - I have some taboo/brocon elements to his backstory. Anton grows up as the legitimate crown prince, but the king & queen aren’t very present (or maybe the queen in particular is power hungry?) so he grows up without love. Alex is his older half sibling from an affair of love so is brought into the household, and everyone loves him more than Anton. Alex is one of the only people to show Anton love so he forms an extreme attachment to him (borderline obsessive). At some point an accident occurs where Anton saves Alex from physical harm which ends up disfiguring/injuring him permanently (making Anton look “weak” in the public’s eye). This incident forced the two to be raised apart - though Anton still had a lot of love for his brother, he then had to hide those feelings for court politic reasons (so that his mother didn’t further sabotage Alex’s life etc). Eventually he has a secret goal to himself to make Alex the king of Matarin as he (probably mistakenly) thinks that Alexander would be the best successor.
I also think Anton is fully aware that his feelings for Alex are romantic (AND VERY TABOO) even if he hasn’t acted on them, and also internally beats himself up for having those feelings since it makes him feel like something is fundamentally wrong with him. Which I think boils down to him needing therapy but modern therapy doesn’t exist in this world orz.
Day, on the other hand, is pretty frank/blunt at speaking about taboo content due to his upbringing (or lack thereof) and growing up in/around brothels his whole life. He has a pretty cynical view of people and love in general. He ends up being drawn to Anton because they can talk about their pasts/feelings without judgement/shame and they form a strong bond that way?
[M1525] Owen x Ci
^ Still under development!! They have a significant age gap (early 20s and early 30s) and clashed a bit when they first met before they slowly build camaraderie and trust. I have a fic bit I wrote myself where Owen is basically distrustful of new people on his team (control issue?) and Ci is hiding some very major parts of his life. So there’s a secret reveal scene that breaks some of that trust they built in Arc 1. I think they’re also both very obviously attracted to each other almost immediately.
There is an Arc 2 that takes place sometime later where they reunite (lol why do I love my OCs reuniting).
[M1525] One Sided Z/Zed x Ci
Z is one of the main antagonists in the story. He is obsessive over Ci (a younger, naive Ci was in love with Z in the past before realizing that he’s toxic). I find it interesting to see antagonists that mask very approachable and upstanding to the public but are secretly a monster to those who know… I feel like a lot of people in reality can be that way.
I think this storyline plays out in Arc 1 and he’s out of the picture for Arc 2. LOL.
[M1525] Terlyn x Asher
School sweethearts! Part of the OG trio friend group with Owen. There was a devastating incident a few years back where Asher had to make the decision to turn Terlyn into a cyborg (basically a medical order decision). They’re like the mom and dad of their space team to show off the dynamic.
