pie charts!

When I grabbed my sales report for Ikkicon and converted it to a pie chart format, I thought to look back on my previous events to see what the numbers show. Unfortunately I hadn’t set up the correct discounting formulas until Anime NYC, so previous data was very skewed/messy (oops!).

I think it’s pretty scary to look at numbers sometimes, but it’s good to reflect on what sells so that I can make good decisions about what product I can make and where I can take reasonable risks.

For this set of pie charts I based it off of overall sales (and not quantity of items) - just to get a quick overview of how sales were split.

Pie charts after the cut~

I have larger than normal profit margins for shirts (as we print those in house and so my cost to get these produced is low). Paper goods do tend to have the most profit margin since they are relatively low cost to produce.

ANIME NYC 2024

I had back-to-back weekends of conventions. Newly added to my lineup (which was previously mostly prints, and tees, and a handful of stationery items) were Acrylic charms, especially the sports ones. I also added the Bread tote as a new functional item.

SAN JAPAN 2024 (1 week later)

It’s nice to see the Acrylic Charms on par with the Yaoi Hands shirt. Sales for the Acrylic Charms at ANYC covered the cost to produce them (I always hope my convention sales pay off the merch item I produced), so sales at San Japan were pure profit.

CATTY BAT 2025

Small 1-day event. Smaller ticket items were a little more popular.

OTAKON 2025

My small prints were popular! I did a restock of charms + new designs, and sold 2x the cost of production (yay).

NIGHT MARKET 2025

Small 1-day event. Smaller ticket items were a little more popular. I got lucky with it being AANPHI themed so some people enjoyed seeing convention type of works.

IKKICON 2026

I remade the pie chart purely off of the sales report so may be a little off from the previous entry. I did check the numbers and I barely made a $50 profit of the production costs of the sticker sets (my main investment). I’m happy those paid off.
