random updates
Random update and not themed!!!
I took a day trip to go to San Japan and browse around. My very good friends (as in - from my close knit group that I’ve known for almost 20 yrs now) were tabling so I like to go to support them. San Antonio is also a nice day trip type of city for me.
I stopped by a bakery that was highly recommended to me by other artists. In previous years I didn’t have the time/opportunity to stop by because of my schedule. There were SO many options, so I picked a few assorted breads to take to my friends. The bread was soooo yummy. I had 2 concha breads to myself.

I ended up spending quite a bit of money at the Artist Alley, haha… I can’t help but want to support other artists (especially when they are my friends too). I mostly used my money from Otakon so it’s just the same $20 being passed around artists lol.
My favorite (and spendiest) purchases were this picnic basket set and this cute crochet bouquet. Now I feel like I need to plan some sort of picnic outing when it’s not so hot. The crochet bouquet is so cute - I love flowers but so many are dangerous for cats…

I’m now putting myself on a (not-so-strict) no-spend. Basically… no impulse purchases that I don’t “need”. Um… some caveats there, lol.
The next day I decided to catch up on my journaling. I have not been writing in my journal but wanted to print out my pictures so that they are in one spot. I started to use some of the stickers that I got at San Japan too!
Hobonichi released their 2026 lineup… which means it’s planner season again! I already decided to stick with the MD Diary for 2026 and bought it. This time of the year makes me look through my older journals as well.

Also - some other mail arrived. Cute plates I got from Lakole (I have an oval plate set from them so I have been eyeing their wares), and I also got some mail from my friend with a little tamagotchi blind box set. I got Furawatchi (though to probably no one’s surprise I secretly was hoping for Memetchi).

I *finally* cleaned out my fridge and back into making food at home.
I tried the thick greek yogurt trend I saw - I enjoyed this as a little side. Also ate some snacks on one of the new plates. I also made an anchovy dressing that I saw on reels. I love anchovies and that umami taste, soooo salty and yummy. I already made a second batch of the dressing!
I used the Monet placemat I bought in D.C.
Momo and Poppy look cute here!!

I made some DIY “curtains” for my open shelving. Basically I found curtains on clearance and thought the color looked nice for my apartment decor (which mostly has light woods and a lot of pink/mauve/beige/neutrals etc). I also have a 3rd exact shelf (in my bedroom) that I also made a curtain for. The DIY was mostly just me cutting and hemming the curtains.

The pale green is a nice addition. My home decor leans very scandinavian/modern/minimal cozy? I’m not a maximalist at all when it comes to decor.
I picked up a cross stitch kit. This is something that has been on the back of my mind for some time now and I finally started it. I’m having so much fun. It feels so meditative and fun to pick up a craft that truly makes me have to work on it a little bit at a time. I messed up on the initial color (too many strands) so it’s a little messy but overall I know it will look fine.
After this I want to do a more DIY cross stitch project. Also this would just be a hobby for myself lol.
I have additional future sewing projects I want to take on as well. I was chatting with BBlux about what I want to make (sewing/garment related) since she is getting deeper into crochet crafting and we have been enjoying these grandma hobbies lol.
Progress shots:
