weekend rot: i was a hermit

I’ve come to realize that I usually blog and post on social media during the week, LOL.

For the record, 90% of my free time was playing video games (back on that FFXIV grind) an also reading (on screens and on ereader etc).

Here’s the 10% of other things I did this weekend:

New phone

Technically I posted about it already while waiting for my time window pick it up. I forgot how annoying it is to have to re-set up everything and also to remove all the other apps. I’m opting for setting things back up as I need to.

My home screen is more or less the same setup I had on my previous phone:

My secondary screen has the more utility things that I need.

I’ve been watching too many reels again. It’s really (lol pun) challenging when I come across recipes or sewing patterns I want to try. Also there are some artist groups I am in that organize things on messages here (whyyy). I did set up app limits through Settings (works okay, but that one I bypass) as well as through the app itself (which I bypass less lol).

One thing I forgot about is that I needed to get a good quality USB-A to USB-C cable for wired carplay - I had to stop by a store on my way to run errands because I was driving to a place I had never driven to before to pick up this fun thing.

Family Style TX Passport

Fun local Austin thing where you can buy a passport booklet thing and try to eat your way through Austin Asian businesses (they are all offering promos) and collect stamps!! My sister put this on my radar and I totally didn’t even read that the promos last until July 31st (I was thinking it was one month only lol).

Cooking

I bought a 2.25 quart Staub french oven. I actually got a 4 quart dutch oven a few months ago (which has been getting a lot of love!!) - I just wanted to get something smaller as well because I want to make more soup sides a regular thing but don’t want to make a huge batch every time. Unfortunately they don’t have this in Citron yellow, so I got a light pink one instead.

Le Creuset had this mini cocotte on clearance and I have been Obsessed with making asian style steamed eggs. I actually already have one with pink hearts on it (valentines edition). I’m sometimes good at making it and sometimes LAZY at making it, but more importantly I like when I’m familiar enough with a cooking process that I don’t have to look it up.

Oh, also for fun I picked up a popcorn gift set that was on sale - it came with 5 seasoning sample jars and 3 types of popcorn. Stovetop popcorn is one of my favorite snacks (and the only way I make popcorn at home!!!). I do load it up with things so it’s not plain healthy but I also have control of what’s in it and I like that. This one is with the zesty cheese seasoning and was SOOOO umami yummy.

I also unearthed a small Dash Pizzelle waffle iron that my dad gifted me one Christmas and made some Pizzelles that I then turned into an ice cream cookie sandwich (no pic).

Momo & Poppy

I can’t tell if the new phone camera just makes the angle really exaggerated or if Momo is really that big, but they certainly enjoy being lazy loafs.
