OOPS

Yesterday I was playing around with Guestbook (I don’t think the code itself works well with bludit code because it wasn’t capturing the name field correctly). So that guestbook is on a pause for now.

But I accidentally published it as a blog post which updated my RSS feeder. OOPS.

So now I'm making another blog post.

Also thank you dirchansky and rurupoi for reading my other post(s) <3 feel free to also just lurk haha.

Little Life Post

This could be its own blog post (but I’m lazy) -

This past weekend I drove up to Dallas with analienrobot and dracolord to watch the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert. This particular show had some specific XIV and XVI features - with live singing by Amanda Achen. ABSOLUTELY incredible. Tomorrow and Tomorrow was so beautiful to experience live. I was able to snag some really nice seats so it was a wonderful time with friends. We found a nice asian food court that we had never been too for dinner beforehand.

Side note, earlier this year I went to the Houston Concert that was VII themed (I had also finally played some of VII to familiarize myself with the lore/music). And a couple years back they had played in Austin (with a general all FF songs playlist).

ALSO it seems like part of the agreement with SE is that they always have to preform certain classics from FF like To Zanarkand and One Winged Angel, haha. Classic Sephiroth!! The fact that Tyler Hoechlin aka Derek Hale voices him in the remake makes me love him even more HA HAHA.

We got into the FFXIV Fanfest as well - so we will be watching some more FFXIV music in April~

Misc Site Things

I did a little playing around with GitHub pages since I stumbled across upon this guide to making and hosting your own blog. I didn’t do more playing around past setting up the main page though.

Reading!!

An artist friend (Bryson McBee) recommended the book Atomic Habits. I got off the Libby waitlist today but earlier this week got impatient so got a secondhand IRL book of it haha. I finished 2 chapters and trying to myself to read a little bit at a time so that I can be more intentional about processing the information.

So far I’m liking this 2-step mindset:

  1. Decide the person you want to be (identity)

  2. Prove it to yourself with small wins

Thinking about how your mindset is so tied to how you view your identity is very interesting.

I also got a bunch of book read recs from other creators that I'll tackle.

(I’m also still reading my fun fanfic and manga reads)

Journals!! Sketchbooks?? Analog...

December is prime journal time for setting up 2026 journals. There is a local stationery club meetup that I am going to try to attend later this month. I think that specific theme is to set up 2026 planners.

My Hobonichi Weeks came in. I got the yellow one, so cute!! I also got the clear cover and the tamagotchi pencil board. I'm planning to decorate the outside with stickers. I haven't unwrapped anything and saving this for the last couple of weeks of the year. In the meantime I need to catch up with my 2025 journal!!

Speaking of Analog notebooks -- I currently carry around a Personal Size 6-ring binder that I got from Miniso. I flipped the cover pages so I could decorate with stickers. I also got a 6 hole punch on clearance and added this grid insert from a notebook I was gifted a long time ago? I have been liking this because the cover is very bendy and easy to bring around. My main pen ins the Uniball One (and I have 3 colors lol...)

Getting back into reading blogs reminds me that I love stumbling upon blogs (therefore everyone should blog - and have it accessible for non technical people).

Blogs I found/read/want to come back to/etc.

Blogroll.org - not sure why I didn’t find this sooner?

The Frugal Gamer - I liked their blog!!

Binarydigit.dev - I like seeing blogs that are run by people with a similar mindset as me (can tinker with some code, etc but largely self taught).

Cody Bubenik - My coworker’s partner has been sharing his comic and sketchbook stuff online. I always like following people’s blog content ESPECIALLY if we have spoken IRL. My coworker is not as actively online (I was mentioning how I didn’t expect her partner to be so active posting).
