winter storm & cancelled plans
I had plans to fly out to LA for a short weekend visit and also to watch the Persona concert. Due to inclement weather I had to cancel those plans :(
I haven’t really mentioned it to many people as I don’t want to hear people say I’m overreacting, etc. It does look like current models show the weather not being bad as predicted but WHO KNOWS.
But the main reasons I made the decision:
- My flight is Saturday morning/Sunday afternoon (yup just a 1 day trip). I have no idea what the airport would be like and any delays/cancellations would not be worth it
- For short trips like this I make use of pet cameras and electronic feeders for Momo and Poppy - tbh if there was a power outage or worse I wouldn’t be able to enjoy myself because I would be too worried about them (+ if there's an outage it would be for the entire area so it wouldn't be easy for sister or brother to check in on them b/c they would be worried about their own home things)
Thankfully I was able to cancel my hotel booking pretty easily. I also have a later trip planned for LA this year so I was able to change my ticket dates easily and pay a small fee. I’m still trying to sell my concert ticket but it might not be a huge loss.
Weirdly I didn’t feel a crushing sense of loss/sadness when I decided to cancel the plans. I think it was probably because I felt like my January was so stacked socially that I feel ready to stay in. I may plan a separate weekend trip in late Feb/early March to go somewhere else.
